Origin
The ideation of creating the Wisconsin Ghostbusters franchise began in the summer months of 2010 when founding member, Andy, observed other franchises throughout the country getting together in costume to meet Dan Aykroyd while he was on his Crystal Head Vodka tour. Mr. Aykroyd seemed receptive of the formation of these other franchises and was asking for business cards from each franchise. Rumor has it that he was hoping to feature the franchises if his concept for Ghostbusters III materialized.
Although Ghostbusters III never made it past the concept phase, the wheels were in motion for the creation of the Wisconsin Ghostbusters. Andy contacted numerous Ghostbusters fans on the GBfans forums and on October 22, 2010 three of those fans met each other for the first time at an outdoor screening of Ghostbusters in Milwaukee.
Operation
Since then, the Wisconsin Ghostbusters have attended and promoted events at locations throughout the state. We’ve promoted events at libraries, schools, movie theaters, haunted houses, comic book stores, sporting events, parades, as well as anime, comic, and game conventions.
The Wisconsin Ghostbusters have helped raise funds for local charitable causes and have also donated to the Children’s Miracle Network. We’ve also visited hospitalized children and have attended two birthday parties for young Ghostbusters fans who recovered from cancer treatments.
Mission
The Wisconsin Ghostbusters strive to make a positive impact at the events we attend. We hope to reinforce the passion for the Ghostbusters movies, introduce people to the creative aspects of building props and making costumes, and continue to contribute to Wisconsin communities by assisting with fundraisers and charitable work.
